They were friends since childhood, but though they went their separate ways after high school, Laurel, Parker, Emma, and Mac came back together. The BFFs moved into Parker’s mansion and opened up Vows wedding planning company that has proven a huge success.
Wedding baker Laurel has known Parker’s older brother Delaney since she first met her friend. She had a schoolgirl crush on him, but her infatuation has turned to a deep love that she hid as she felt he treated her like a kid sister. One day he got her so angry and frustrated, she kissed him. That changed their relationship as Del began to see Laurel as a woman, not a younger sibling. They start dating and agree to go slow letting their feelings drive them. He fails to tell her how he feels so when Mac’s vindictive acrimonious mother accuses her of going after Del’s money and that an Ivy League elitist like him would never marry a lower class slut like her, she has doubts. Laurel hopes he will stay with her but is afraid that in time he will leave her forcing Del to examine just what he needs from Laurel.
The third Bride Quartet contemporary romance is a charming entry as the bakery chef and the lawyer fall in love. Laurel is a strong person who comes from a dysfunctional lower class environs while Del grew up in a loving nurturing country club family. Both are independent caring people who may find love is not enough to overcome social barriers. Nora Roberts provides a delightful contemporary romantic romance.
